Moolynaut was born in a skin tent on the Siberian tundra during the reign of Czar Nicholas. She lived through the Russian revolution, the ravages of Stalin, the rise and fall of the Soviet empire, and the economic turmoil brought on by perestroika -- by freedom.

I met Moolynaut in 2000 while I was kayaking along the remote northeast coast of Russia, south of the Bering Straits. When I returned to the isolated village of Vyvenka, Moolynaut healed my old ski injury in a séance-based encounter with Kutcha the Raven God. In seeking to comprehend Koryak spirituality, I followed amanita mushroom-induced passages toward the Other World -- then skied for two months across the tundra.
I am now working on a book, "The Raven's Gift", that chronicles my physical and spiritual adventures in this remote and frozen land.
